Community Advice and Information Service
We provide free welfare benefits and information advice service for the Bangladeshi and other Asian communities.
Services provided
Our welfare advice and information surgeries are open to anyone dropping into our office between 10.00am to 12.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of every week. You can also telephone our office during the above times. Our services include the following:
- Filling in welfare benefits and other forms
- Giving advice on what benefits are available to our clients
- Giving advice as to how clients can maximise their income
- Helping clients to make agreements with gas, electricity, water boards to pay their bills in manageable instalments.
- Contacting the Hospitals, Clinics, Doctors etc on behalf of clients to arrange/rearrange appointments
- Keeping stocks of Housing/Council tax Benefits claim forms and other welfare benefits Claim forms for clients use.
- Interpreting and translating letters, documents etc for clients
- Providing general advice on healthy living
- Providing advice on housing, education and training, social services, immigration, passports, health issues etc
- Refer clients to appropriate agencies regarding tenancy matters, resolving neighbour disputes, domestic problems, racial and other harassments
- Contacting the appropriate authorities e.g., Landlords, the Council and other offices on behalf of clients
