Educational Support Classes

Educational support classes for children aged 6 to 14 years are held every Saturday from 9.00am 1.00pm at the Tenants Hall, Navarino Mansions, Dalston Lane, London E8. These classes are open to all children from the local community. They are helped with their school work in Maths, Science and English at key stage levels 1, 2 and 3. Student Work Experience placement
We work in partnership with Inspire, the Educational Business Partnership for Hackney, by hosting work experience placement for Hackney school students. Ashley Richardson from Stoke Newington School being shown how to log in a repair by Mujibur Rahman, Housing Officer during his work experience programme at Bangla's Office in February 2008 .
ESOL Classes We are working in partnership with UXL training center and Hackney Homes to provide ESOL classes for Bangladeshi community living in Hackney. These classes are being held at a local community center and are provided free for people who want to improve their English literacy and numeracy skills. This will help them to improve their employment prospects. Free
crèche facilities
along with any travel cost are reimbursed by the training center. This is a three year program which started in December 2007 and will end in 2010. If you wish to join these classes please contact our office or Tel 020 895 1124 for an application form.
Community health awareness workshops

I partnership with the Stroke Project, last year, we organised a number of workshops for the local community to raise awareness on the causes of heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes and about how to keep healthy .This year we are continuing with

Debt Advice
We work with Capitalise who are based in Toynbee Hall and helps local people with
- One to one confidential debt advice session with triained advisors.
- Help to sort out any debt (no matter how big or small).

We also work with SAFE Project who are are also based in Toynbee Hall who can assist people in debt with gas and electricity bills (EDF and British gas customers only).

Women swimming class
Every Thursday eveing a group of local women attend swimming classes at the Kings Hall Lesuire Center in Hackney. These classes are organised by Bangla staff to encourage women to keep fit and enjoy this lesuire activity.
